Looks like Sandy will track offshore this weekend but the forecast is for rain and gusty winds Saturday through Monday. Planning a trip to Emerald Isle/Swansboro mid week next week to fish inshore for trout. What kind affect will the weather have on the fishing? Hurt it help it?

Hopefully the water will be cleared up by then, but it's hard to tell. Depends on how much rain we get etc. Sometimes it turns the bite on, and sometimes it takes a while for things to get back to normal, we will just have to wait and see.

The one thing that would concern me would be the amount of rain the coast gets. I think that would screw up fishing more then the winds. That is just my opinion.

I think it along with the cold snap is going to fire them up...I could also be wrong though What I do know to be 100 percent true is that you won't catch them from home. Good luck and post up a report when you're done.

One thing about these strong storms and high surf.............. they will cut some really good holes ajong the beach....... should be good for the bottom fishing. As far as trout....... well they tend to shelter from fresh conditions in MY OPIN........... A few days can make a huge difference though..... And i know the temps are spose to fall...... and that will def put the bait on the move....... and in turn the trout follow............ Corse who am I to know what they do..... Deer and fish have proven my wrong at least once before!

A: after fishing my favorite trout areas (near the coast)-they have not made an appearance per-sa as yet B: all the rain and surf will really dirty the water-which I have found to be a BIG trout turnoff and C: just when I think I have fish figured out I find my myself to be full of carp looking and sounding like a novice!

Day or so after the storm will be high blue bird skies with winds. Then the fishing will be on fire... So about Wed or Thursday should be about right.

One key to Trout fishing has always been clean water. Give it a couple of days .... ICM

I was just down in Atlantic Beach checking on the boat. Bogue sound is looking pretty rough Better think more like Friday before anything clears up around here.

Dr. Bogus report today:
Surf
now down to 65, sound at 57 on a gusty W wind. Tides still very high,
but fishing on the pier was awesome today, red drum, black drum and
specks. Will try the surf for trout as soon as things calm down. I
"feel" they are there. Come here fishy-fishy.

Reports of the same off of Sea View Pier on NOrth Topsail Beach.
This weekend should be some great fishing anywhere along the NC coastline, creeks and rivers for trout and reds.
